@Ash339, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.
The E4 error on your HP printer typically indicates a paper jam, either real or sometimes a false detection. Let’s walk through the steps to resolve it:
Cancel the Print Job
- Press the Cancel button on the printer to try clearing the error automatically.
Turn Off and Unplug the Printer
- Power off the printer and unplug all cables, including the power cord. This is important for safety before inspecting inside.
Check All Jam Locations Look for jammed or torn paper in these areas:
- Input Tray
- Output Tray
- Cartridge Access Area
- Bottom of the Printer (Cleanout Door)
- Document Feeder (if your model has one)
Remove Jammed Paper Carefully
- Use both hands to gently pull out any jammed paper.
- Avoid using sharp tools like tweezers to prevent damage.
Inspect the Cleanout Door (if available)
- Turn the printer over and open the cleanout door underneath.
- Remove any debris or torn paper bits.
- Close the door securely.
Reconnect and Test
- Plug the printer back in and power it on.
- Try printing a test page to see if the issue is resolved.
