ENVY 6230
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Can someone please tell me if there is a way to resolve this? In the midst of trying to resolve a Scan to Email problem my new 6230 started to print page after page of code, as in the attached pic (yesterday's aberration, and a page from a week or so ago) Yesterday I made one final effort to resolve both issues by removing all HP apps and drivers, and reinstalling. Running HP doctor, the message appeared that the printer was out of paper (it wasn't), I Skipped, and, other tests green-ticked, decided to print a test page as invited. This is what emerged. I had to cancel the print before I wasted even more paper.

Rebooting, checking the Print Queue was empty, makes no difference. A simple Notepad page of "test" elicits the same garbage print.

@PewlettHackard, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I understand the printer is printing unwanted information. Let us reset the printer to its factory defaults.

  • On the printer control panel display, from the Home screen, touch Setup
  • Touch  Tools, touch Restore Factory Defaults and then follow the onscreen instructions.

Unplug the power cable and hold the power button down for 10-15 seconds and release it. Power on the printer and check if this helps.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Thanks Kumar. I reset to factory defaults. Takes a while, having to enter the router password again on a fiddly little panel - a little finger twitch, and you must start afresh. It failed to resolve the issue. What's more, it lost the enrolling with the Instant Ink setup, and Instant Ink said it was offline, although it was onlibne. So that was a dead end, becasue it would not print anything.

I gave up and phoned HP sales to get a refund and return it - at some point an HP message said that there was a fault in the machine - they transferred me to Tech - guy in Serbia called Nadan who was brilliant - patient, sympathetic, confidence inducing. He was confident that it was a driver issue, and guided me through removing the two HP 6230 printers in Windows 10 Ctrl panel (one was scan only or some such title). I didn't have to remove drivers via any other means (like printui in the Command window). Now, I can't recall the steps - it all happened so fast -  I installed a new driver - it had P-137 or some such alpha-numeric tag at the end - then deleted and reset the Web Services. Two test pages emerged OK.

So all seems well, and he assured me that it's enrolled ok in Instant Ink, although I haven't checked this.

What puzzles me is why the drivers that I downloaded/reinstalled so many times off the HP support site are apparently faulty. This new one has a name that I've never seen before.

Hope this account helps the knowledge base of you guys who help us here. I'm sorry I can't replicate the procedure in print.

Fwiw I just found that driver name on the Windows Printer Test Page:

Hi Kumar I followed your suggestion ie deleting the HP ENVY PHOTO 6230 Driver, thn as per your suggestion reloading the HP ENVY PHOTO 6230 driver. I was at my wits end until I simply down loaded the HP 6200 series driver and that solved my problem, thank you.
