I have an iMac and a MacBook that both experience the following message in the print queue:" Encryption Certificate Expired" when attempting print to the M252dw.

I updated the printer firmware and the printer driver on the iMac, same problem exists.

The Imac is running Ventura 13.7.1, the MacBook Monterey 12.7.3

Is this just a built in expiration mechanism or is there a fix for this?

Thanks for your help

This is what worked:

1. From the settings menu on the printer display panel select "Settings"

2. Select "Reports"

3.Select "Network Summary"

4. Enter the IP address of the printer (IPv4 address) into safari web address bar

5. Select the "Networking" Tab

6. Select "Certificates" under the "Security" heading

7. Click the "Configure" button under "Printer Certificate" (Not the CA Certificate)

8. Follow the prompts to create a new certificate that overwrites the existing certificate.

When you print from macOS, an Encryption Credentials Expired error message may display and you are unable to print. This error displays when the Embedded Web Server, or EWS, has an expired certificate. For other helpful videos go to https://youtube.com/hpsupport. More support options for your HP ...

The HP smart app can not find my printer.

What else can I try

HP Recommended

Type the IP address of the printer directly into the address bar of your browser and that will access the EWS of the printer. Do not try to search as it will not find it.

How do I get the IP address,

BTW

My printer now shows as off line

Either print the configuration page from the reports menu or touch the network icon in the upper right of the control panel. You can also download the user manual from support.hp.com that will provide details on navigating menus on your printer.

There is no secuity setting

I typed in the ip address of the printer in my browser.

I see where I can upload a CA certificate. The status shows that there is no certificate installed.

Where can I get a certificate

Thanks

As per the video, you create a self-signed certificate, there is no external request required.

The path to where I need to be in my version of hp smart is different than what is in the video, I have no path to security settings in the latest version of HP Smart.

I am at a loss of what to do at this point
