Ah Destiny - all that brain power in HP and a simple solution fixes the problem.

(Search was taking ages so I cancelled and re-did with known/fixed IP address)

I just wish a) HP Support staff would review previous comments and b) look into why their complex long winded solutions are mostly useless for these issues but yours works.

I tried changing the device settings to duplex 'installed' but it switches itself back to 'uninstalled' and the automatic duplex only has selections of 'off' and 'update now' no 'on' option

Thanks, you my dear are a genius! It worked just like you said it would. I have tried everything but the kitchen sink,  including  downloading the 4 different HP driver updates that didn't do a thing for me or my driver.

I followed the suggestion and when I clicked device settings I was not given the option you mentioned. only Microsoft Ipp class drivers device settings. What say you please.

No, that does not work at all.

Destiny 2020 has exactly the correct solution which works perfectly - as posted on June 2020.

  • Go to Devices and Printers
  • Select 'Add a printer'
  • "The printer that I want isn't listed"
  • "My printer is a little older. Help me find it."
  • My printer popped up as 'ENVY 4520 series (HP)'
  • "Replace my current driver"

OMG thank you for the solution Destiny. After weeks of dealing with Hp, Windows and Geek Squad your solution finally fixed the problem. It is ridiculous that we have to go through all this, because HP and Windows cant get their **bleep** together. I spent two weeks, hours watching computer professionals remote access my computer and they still couldn't fix the problem of my printer all of a sudden not being able to print double sided. It finally works now after a lot of wasted paper and ink.
