My printer was printing too pale to read. I got new ink and made sure that the print heads were clean. Now I am getting the oxb8d4d066 error message

The 0xb8d4d066 error on your HP Envy 5020 printer usually indicates a hardware or firmware issue. Here are some troubleshooting steps to fix it:

 

Restart the Printer

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  2. Wait for 3–5 minutes to clear temporary errors.
  3. Plug it back in and turn it on.

Perform a Hard Reset

  1. With the printer turned on, unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  3. Wait 60 seconds.
  4. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet first, then into the printer.
  5. Turn on the printer and check if the error persists.

Check Ink Cartridges

  1. Open the ink cartridge door and remove both the black and color cartridges.
  2. Clean the cartridge contacts using a lint-free cloth and a bit of distilled water.
  3. Let them dry for a minute, then reinsert them securely.
  4. Close the ink cartridge door and restart the printer.

Update Printer Firmware

  1. Download the latest firmware update from HP's official website.
  2. Install it using your computer or HP Smart app.

Factory Reset (If Issue Persists)

  1. On the printer’s control panel, go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Restore Defaults.
  2. Select Restore Factory Defaults and confirm.
  3. The printer will restart—set it up again and check if the error is gone.
