The 0xb8d4d066 error on your HP Envy 5020 printer usually indicates a hardware or firmware issue. Here are some troubleshooting steps to fix it:
Restart the Printer
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for 3–5 minutes to clear temporary errors.
- Plug it back in and turn it on.
Perform a Hard Reset
- With the printer turned on, unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
- Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Wait 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet first, then into the printer.
- Turn on the printer and check if the error persists.
Check Ink Cartridges
- Open the ink cartridge door and remove both the black and color cartridges.
- Clean the cartridge contacts using a lint-free cloth and a bit of distilled water.
- Let them dry for a minute, then reinsert them securely.
- Close the ink cartridge door and restart the printer.
Update Printer Firmware
- Download the latest firmware update from HP's official website.
- Install it using your computer or HP Smart app.
Factory Reset (If Issue Persists)
- On the printer’s control panel, go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Restore Defaults.
- Select Restore Factory Defaults and confirm.
- The printer will restart—set it up again and check if the error is gone.
