Wireless Envy 5055 printer goes off line when switching to Laser Jet 1160 printer with USB cable. When I delete the Envy 5055 printer from the Printers & Scanner List and try to again add it to the list, the only option is to add the Envy 5000 series Bonjour Scanner, not the printer. I have reset the printer, rebooted the printer to no avail. The only way, and I do mean the only way, I can get the printer to appear in the "ADD" list is to reboot my router each and every time. I can not continue to do this. Could this be wireless printer software issue. Please help. Printer is only two days old.

Had my problem finally solved by an actual live, real person, Mickson of Hp Technical Support. He was courtious and, above all, very knowledgeable regarding my specific problem. The short answer is the Envy 5055 printer will not work with a dual band router, 2.4GHz/5 GHz (in my case, a Gateway), where both bands share the same network passwords. This is because when the Envy 5055 arbitrarily connects to the 5 GHz band, it will work once but will go "off line" when you again access the printer for another print job. Current printer IS NOT designed to operate on the 5 GHz band. The solution is to give the 2.4 GHz band a different name from the 5 GHz band (requires access to router website to make name changes). Then assign the newly named 2.4 GHz band to the Envy 5055 printer and everything is good-to-go with no future "off line" problems.
I NEVER would have figured this out myself (tried for 20+man hours). I owe my sanity to Mickson of Hp Technical Support.
