Hi all
Just got my first HP printer being a long user of epson printers. My monitored is hardware calibrated, I should put that out there right away. I use Photoshop, and am a graphic artist.
I got the envy 6234 printer as it says it does photos. I do a photo test print on glossy paper and it way over saturated the print and added too much constrast. My first thing I look for is, you guest it, some colour managment control, but there is non, nothing ziltch? All my Epson printers have had some form of control such as saturation, contrast, brightness e.c.t but not this printer?
I ring HP and I was told to adjust my photo, what? I was also told he didnt know what colour profile my printer uses, and that non of HP printers has any colour managment what so ever, Im a little shocked?
Thanks.

There should be a Color Management option the Printer properties.

Hi. Thanks for your reply.
There is a colour managment area where there is no profile for the printer. On my parents HP printer which they have had a while now but never printed a photo untill I tried it the other day, the colour for them is also over saturated. I thought id try using a preset profile to see what difference it makes, so used the only one avalible and it made no difference. Out of interest what profile do you put in there?
Aside from this there is no colour adjutment from the printers end, why?
Thanks.

I use the default profile settings.
For your second question you will have to contact HP.

I use the settings that come with the HP software.
Are you printing from Photoshop always?
Have you tried printing from the Paint program?

Hello.
Just so I make sure I understand, you dont go into colour management and choose a icc profile, just pick the basic settings for paper and quality and print?
Iv tried printing both in Photoshop and from windows picture viewer. Iv not got a paint program with HP software, but I have affinity, and photoshop. Iv tried using the printers own colour managment and photoshopts using my monitor icc, adobe icc, and RGB they all print wrong. My parents HP printer, same problem over constrast, and over saturated.
Thanks.

Yes, that is correct.
Paint is a Windows program that comes with the operating system.
Do you have the same problem with all images?

Looks like you got a defective printer, you can contact HP support or just return it to the place where you purchased it.
