Envy 7640
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I have had an Envy 7640 sitting in its box for a year or two and just got it out today. I had no problems setting it up except for alignment issues that eventually got solved. Then I tried to print a picture and all colors printed except magenta. I tried all three steps cleaning the cartridges but still no magenta.

I have tried all the other troubleshooting tips in the HP sheet.

I have no other cartridges to try and don't want to buy a new one as Instant Ink cartridges have been ordered. But I do need to use this printer right away. Any suggestions?

Hello,

You seem to have tried all the steps, however i'd want you to check if there is any step that you might have missed as mentioned in the below URL .

Cartridge replacement is the only option i see to fix this issue.

Thanks very much for the quick reply. It does seem like I need to replace the cartridge. But that's $25 and I'm trying to decide if that's worth it. I just took the printer out of the box for the first time. If the technology is this unreliable, it'd be throwing good money after bad.
