HP Envy photo 7855 won't pick up 4x6 paper from photo tray. Only prints A4. Has anyone seen this printer perform as it should? I see many complaints. No solutions.

@PGN, Welcome to HP Support Community!
First, confirm the print settings in the photo app you are using, such as selecting the photo paper tray, paper type, and paper size are set for your print job.
Step 1: Load photo paper in the photo tray
Load photo paper in the photo paper tray to help ensure that it is picked up by the printer correctly.
- Turn the printer on if it is not already on.
-
Pull the photo tray inside the input tray toward you to open it as far as possible.
Figure: Pull out the photo tray inside the input tray
-
Slide the paper width guides to their outermost positions.

-
Load the photo paper with the short edge forward and the print side down into the photo tray.

-
Slide the paper forward until it stops.
-
Slide the paper width guides inward so that they lightly rest against the edges of the photo paper and make sure that the photo paper is centered in the tray.
Figure: Adjust the paper width guides
-
Reinstall the output tray on the input tray, if you removed it, and then push the input tray into the printer until it locks into place.
Step 2: Set up the print job
Adjust the print settings in the app or operating system you are printing from to use the photo paper tray.
Refer to step 2 from this document.
If the photo still does not print from the photo tray, go to HP ENVY, DeskJet Printers - 'Out of Paper' Displays and Printer Does Not Pick Paper
Let me know the outcome.
Cheers 🙂

First, the inner photo tray does not 'lock' as you indicate. Second, what option is to be chosen for Paper Size? I'm asking because selecting 4 x 6 in both pull downs does not work. Regardless, after I make selections, it stops spinning and does not print, nor does an error show on the printer, nor does the printer show with an error in the bottom tray. Please clarify immediately. Thank you

Hi @PalmerN66
Welcome to the HP Support Community. To assist you better, I would like to know the following:
- Which device are you using to print?
- Which application are you using?
- Make sure the photo paper is properly placed in the photo tray.
- Check the print settings and make sure the correct paper type and paper size are selected.
Keep me posted.

Just like @PalmerN66,
-I am using the HP Envy Photo 7855.
- I am using the HPSmart app on Windows 10.
-The photo tray is accurately loaded into the photo tray.
-The correct print settings have been selected.
Even after all of the correct settings have been selected, this printer will not print from the photo tray. I am not new to printing, I used another HP printer for the past 10 years.
