HP ENVY Photo 7858 All-in-One Printer
macOS 10.14 Mojave

Hello,

I have a MacBook Pro running macOS Mojave’s 10.14 and cannot get my new Envy 7858 All-In-One Printer to print double-sided documents properly. I would go to print double-sided and put Long-Edge binding from the drop-down menu so that the orientation would stay the same, but for some reason, it would still print upside down on the next page. I spent the last couple hours trying to find a solution on multiple forums and websites but to no avail. I have tried from updating the printer's firmware and Mac's software, to printing in different settings of page sizing and orientations suggested by different users on the HP's community with the same issues but can't get it to work. I also tried to follow the HP's instructional video of double-sided printing on a Mac with all the settings exactly the same as instructed but for some reason, the PDF (using Acrobat DC) would print upside down still.

Since I couldn't get it to print properly on Acrobat, I tried opening the file with the Preview app on Mac and printing it that way and it somehow works. So not sure if this is an Acrobat issue or am I doing something wrong still. Any help would be appreciated! 🙂

@xoxojnn, Welcome to HP Support Community!

Perform a hard reset on the printer-

  • Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.
  • Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  • Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  • Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Try updating the Adobe Acrobat on your Mac and try printing.

Let me know the outcome.

Cheers 🙂
