@Skypilot62 - It was nice to see others find this forum with the common problem we were all having.  While the fix was a "relief" (to those who didn't already replace the printer) - it was still a defining moment for me and my opinion of HP. I was already on the fence after seeing the direction HP (and other companies) are taking with the way they handle OUR property.

I am not a fan of this "subscription" model many companies are taking. In fact I despise it wholeheartedly.

I hate being beholden with monthly payments to everyone. Which is why I've been on a mission over the past few years to eliminate almost ALL of my monthly "dues." With the exception of power, fuel, internet, and food - I have no other recurring expenses. And I like it that way!

Take care everyone!

HP cancelled my replacement printer, citing the updated firmware. My HP cartridge is working again, however the printer still reports an incorrect product number (7MD72A vs.7MD72E) and country/region (Ukraine vs. United States). It's an M140dwe.

Is anyone else who was bricked but then received the firmware "fix" still seeing their printers with incorrect country/region or product number?

My Product ID is different too.  However, it was like this before the last firmware update. HP Smart App indicates my ID ends in “A”, but the label inside the area to hold the cartridge shows “FR”.  This was a problem when I tried to register the printer.  HP website wouldn’t accept “A”, so I never registered it until I found the label after it was bricked.  Registration took the “FR” suffix.   I don’t know if it stands for France, or not.  I purchased the printer as a refurbished.  Maybe the ID had to change.

HP phone support explained the product number change is normal, and that performing an NVRAM reset (holding right arrow + cancel during power on) will clear the incorrect country/region problem on my M140we. All does appear to be well now. What a ride.

Mine is not refurbished. I made the mistake of updating the firmware--I foolishly followed HP's recommendation--and now, like others, I find my printer does not work at all. Error 11. HP needs to send a new firmware update NOW.

The issue should be resolved with firmware version 20250311. What version are you running and what model is your printer?
