I am also getting this error on my Office Jet Pro 8035. How do I reset it? I'm unable to follow the instructions for resetting the printer in the manual, as the error screen prevents me from accessing the menu.

For the record, I was able to fix this by manually moving the carriage left by about half an inch and then restarting the printer.
So I called HP support, who were kind enough to waive the phone support fee even though my printer is 4 months out of warrantee. The 1+ hour phone call was mostly useless and ended with the agent telling me there's nothing I can do to fix the printer and I'll have to buy a new one. ("I can help you choose a new printer for as low as $299!") But the agent did impart one critical piece of knowledge that allowed me to manually fix my printer. The error code B835F1C2 means that the printer carriage is jammed. While I was on the phone, the tech had me try to move the carriage, but I couldn't really get a good grip on it and so after I failed, he concluded that my printer was irreparable and needed to be replaced. Incorrect. After I got off the phone, I spent more time trying to move the carriage and eventually was actually able to move it. It was jammed all the way to the right, so I had very little access to it, but I did it, and then restarted the printer. Gone was the blue screen and the B835F1C2 error code! I was about to declare victory, when the printer prompted me to "Please use SETUP cartridges to initialize printer".
Well, I don't have the setup cartridges because I threw them in the garbage about a year ago after they ran out of ink. So I go back to the googles, and blessedly, this is a very solvable problem. Here is the youtube video I followed to disable the need to have the setup cartridges: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yezs4Ls22nw Basically:
- Press 'back' 4 times (note that the button may or may not be visible when doing this... just press where it WOULD be in the bottom left corner of the screen.)
- Press "Support Menu"
- Scroll down and press "System Configuration Menu"
- Scroll down and press "Trade OOBE"
- On "Trade supplies Disabled", Press "OK" to enable it
- Press the X
- Restart printer
My printer now functions normally.

Hi @Daxo,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd like to help!
I understand you are receiving a "B835F1C2" error on the printer screen.
We can perform a factory default on the printer to resolve the issue
Reset the product
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
- Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Wait at least 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
- Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
- Turn the printer on. HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet
To restore the printer to the original factory defaults
1. From the printer control panel, touch or swipe down the tab at the top of the screen to open the Dashboard, and then touch ( Setup ).
2. Touch Printer Maintenance.
3. Touch Restore.
4. Touch Restore Factory Defaults. A message appears stating that the factory defaults will be restored.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hi Jay, Thanks for the reply. I tried these steps, but I'm unable to complete the steps to restore the printer to the factor settings, because the blue screen does not show any of the usual controls. "touch or swipe down the tab at the top of the screen to open the Dashboard" does not do anything. I've sent you a private message with a video.
I tried powering off the printer by unplugging for 60 seconds, but it had no effect. As soon as it started up, the error came back.

We can perform a semi reset on the printer to resolve the issue
- The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may corrupt the device.
- I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
- In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Support Community profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/notes/privatenotespage
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

I would highly recommend to HP that a list of error codes and their meaning is provided on the support website for each printer. I could have saved literally 4+ total hours of troubleshooting this problem if I was easily able to find the meaning of "B835F1C2".
