Hi @Cutworm, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing issues with your HP OfficeJet 4650 printer after recent updates. The error message "WFBackgroundShortcutRunner-ErrorDomain error 0" suggests a problem related to background processes handling printing tasks on your MacBook Air. To address this, please follow the steps below:
Restart Your Devices:
- Printer: Turn off your HP OfficeJet 4650, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
- MacBook Air: Restart your Mac to refresh system processes.
Update Printer Drivers and Software:
- HP Software: Visit the HP Support page to download and install the latest drivers and firmware for your printer model.
- macOS: Ensure your Mac is running the latest version. Go to the Apple menu > "System Preferences" > "Software Update" to check for and install any available updates.
Reset the Printing System on Your Mac:
- Open "System Preferences" > "Printers & Scanners".
- Right-click (or Control-click) in the list of devices and select "Reset printing system". This action will remove all printers and scanners, so you'll need to add your HP OfficeJet 4650 again afterward.
Re-add Your Printer:
- In "Printers & Scanners", click the "+" button to add a new printer.
- Select your HP OfficeJet 4650 from the list and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.
Check Wireless Connectivity (if using a wireless connection):
- Ensure both your printer and MacBook Air are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Reconnect the printer to Wi-Fi if necessary:
- On the printer's control panel, navigate to "Setup" > "Network Setup" > "Wireless Setup Wizard".
- Select your Wi-Fi network and enter the password.
Use Image Capture for Scanning (if scanning issues persist):
- Open the "Image Capture" application on your Mac.
- Select your HP OfficeJet 4650 from the list of devices.
- Use this application to scan documents, bypassing potential issues with the HP scanning software.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
