HP Officejet Pro 8600 Premium e-All-in-One - N911n

I just replaced my ink cartridge and received the following error message: There is a problem with the printer or ink system. Turn printer off, then on. If problem persists, contact HP.  I have tried unplugging and turning of the printer, but it remains on that message.  Prior the replacing the ink, I was getting a periodic alignment message.

If you are receiving an error message indicating a problem with the printer or ink system on your HP Officejet Pro 8600 Premium e-All-in-One - N911n, follow these steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Steps to Resolve Ink System Error:

Turn Off and On the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer using the power button.
  • Unplug the power cord from the printer.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the printer.
  • Turn the printer on using the power button.

Check and Reseat the Ink Cartridges:

  • Open the ink cartridge access door.
  • Remove and reinsert each ink cartridge to ensure they are properly seated.
  • Close the ink cartridge access door.

Clean Ink Cartridge Contacts:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Remove the ink cartridges.
  • Use a lint-free cloth or cotton swab dipped in distilled water to gently clean the electrical contacts on the ink cartridges and inside the printer.
  • Allow the contacts to dry completely before reinserting the ink cartridges.

Reset the Printer:

  • Disconnect all cables from the printer.
  • Wait for about 1 minute.
  • Reconnect the cables and turn the printer on.

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • Visit the HP Support page to check for any available firmware updates for your printer model.
  • Follow the instructions to update the printer firmware.

Alignment Issue:

  • If you were previously receiving alignment messages, perform a printer alignment to ensure optimal print quality.
  • Follow the prompts on the printer screen to complete the alignment process.
