I have Mac Sequoia, 15.4.1.
I have gone to the Printer web page and then to Network, then to Security and then to Certificates. I have created a new self signed certificate and that expires in 2035. I have removed and reinstalled the printer, 3x's. I have restarted the computer. After reinstalling the printer all looks fine until I try to print and then it tells me a I have an expired certificate.
Here is my certificate:

A few hours? Did you keep you printer connected to internet during that period?
I had this for two weeks, but it never disappeared. I went through all those more than 3x, and everytime when I tried to fix it I went through these whole process in evenings. It didn't work every time, so I turned the printer off before going to bed, and then turned it one again the second day, the alert stays.

Unfortunately, it doesn't work on my MacBook Pro. No matter how long I waited, it never worked.
Interesting that every time when I get into the self-generated certificate page to check the current certificate, the certificate always has a start date on that day. It looks like it auto refreshes every day in the back. But sadly, again, never worked.
If you print from HP Smart app, it works well. So, it leads me to the conclusion that HP's original intention is pushing customers using their HP Smart app as the official printing interface, not the default one coming with the system. While the default interface in system still works, but it relies on the driver to communicate and here, at least on my machine, the driver identified is just "HP Envy 7900 series". Looks like a generic one, not the specific one for my model. Then the certificate issue persists.
Using one solution in another post in this forum, if you add this printer to Mac OS by IP address, then select the generic printer driver coming with Mac, it works but only for back-and-white printing, not colour printing.
