Hi,

I realized same, snapfish needs DNS, but luckily I'm not using it.

Time to time needs like printer's network interface hangs up. It doesn't die, diagnostics is fine, signal strength is fine, but even opening its internal webpage takes ages to load. This comes up, if I cancel for example scanning from my computer. I noticed that turning wlan off and on again helps. I don't think it is problem with router (1 year old Apple airport express) or signal strength, because of diagnostics of printer and functionality with other devices.

I cannot find possibility to select 802.11b/g, only 802.11b.

In an infrastructure network use 802.11b behavior.

Open the printer's internal web page by browsing to its IP address.  After the page opens, append ?support=on to the current URL in your browser.  This will enable a special mode on the printer.  Now select Networking, Wireless (802.11), then Advanced.  Scroll to the bottom of page and select In an infrastructure network use 802.11b/g behavior.  Press Apply.

I also have this problem - really slow printing and then just gives up half way down a page. Also the internal web pages take forever to load.

Just wanted to note that I also have an Airport Extreme router as a few of the other posters seem to have - do we think there is an issue with this printer and Apple routers?

By the way, setting the b/g option solved the problem for me (for now, anyway :smileyhappy:)

Hello,

I've had this very irritating problem as well.  I don't care about or use Snapfish, but the following patch from HP seemed to help (so far):

Critical Update to correct a problem when accessing Snapfish Albums

HPCOM_Whitney_fw_update_v4.exe [1/1, 809.3k]

snapfish critical update

Hi,

Had the same problem here - extremely slow printing (one line at a time) with a new HP Photosmart Premium Web printer on a home-office wireless network.  After reading the various posts, one solution stood out and I decided to try it before attempting anything else.  I set the "In an infrastructure network use 802.11b/g behavior", and that seemed to resolve my problem.

Interestingly, simply accessing the printers web page was extremely slow, and navigating to the advanced page to apply that setting was pretty painful.   Once I set it though, I was able to navigate through the printers web pages just fine.  My initial printing tests also worked out OK.

For now, this seems to have resolved my issue.  Thanks Jim B!

Hi Jim,

I read your advice to another user and it's almost fixing my problem with extreemly slow printing on an HP Photosmart C4700 -- I was hoping you might be able to take a quick look at my problem too.

When I removed the phoneline from the wireless router, print speeds were normal; I then I changed the wireless network settings like you suggested (manual IP and manual DNS) and rebooted the router, printer and computer (with the phone line back in the DSL).  When everythign started back up I was back to the same slow speeds.

I also ran the statistics you'd suggested to the other member and got these results:

Number of 802.11 networks discovered: 1
SSID: weav wireless
Channel: 1
RSS: -28

I'd really appreciate any suggestions you might have.  Thanks in advance

Emily

Did you leave the Gateway and DNS fields blank?  If not, try that.

Also, is the static IP you used for the printer outside the router's DHCP range?

I am experiencing extremely slow printing on my Photosmart C309g-m.  I have contacted HP Support and they have not been able to resolve the situation.  My experience sounds much like the descriptions that I have read here in this forum.  I am using an IMAC Intel running MAC OS X 10.6.  My wireless router is my time capsule, which is plugged into myy DSL modem 2WIRE.  Any help would be appreciated.
