I also received the error "Faulty Print Head" and called custermer support who was nice in sending out a replacement printer. Only a few month after that i got the same error so i called back getting the responce we can send you the same printer with no garentee that you won't get the same error again or a Envy 7640 which is double the cost per page. The main reason we percused this printer was for it low cost to print. Is there a printer that i can ask for that won't break 2 months after getting it and won't cost a lot to print?

In a word - NO.  HP is in the ink business, not the printer business.  If you're old enough to shave, you'll understand that razor blades end up costing far more than the razor - it is a common business model these days.  I prefer Canon machines at the moment but all the vendors are in the same race to the bottom so the big winner these days are the landfill operators.  If can live without the color feature I'd suggest a basic laser printer for the best combination of speed, page cost, consumables lifetime, and product life.

I just got the error message. I need a phone number to contact HP.  Can anyone help with that?  Thanks

HP will first want to know if your printer is under warranty.  Fill out the form at:

Purchased this printer and signed up for automatic ink replacement.  Before I had used the starter ink, had the "faulty printhead" issue.  Had eceived first replacement ink but did not install it as I still was printing off starter ink.  Called HP and they agreed there was an issue with the printer and would send another.  The ink you order thru the automatic refill program is somehow linked to the printer and cannot be used with any other 6830 printer.  So I have a refill that I paid for and cannot use.

Couple of weeks later received new printer, packed up old printer and took to Fed Ex.  Cancelled ink replacement option.

Low on ink on "new" printer and paid approximately $70 @ Staples for HP ink.  Could have purchased a new printer for about $30 more.  Had not had time to install new ink when I received the same "printhead issue" message.  Installed new ink thinking that might solve the problem.

Nope.  Printer will not print.  Went on line and found the steps to report the problem and voila!  My printer again gets replaced by HP.  Will not arrive for 1 to 2 weeks.

They may as well send 2 and save the hassle because at least I will have a replacement when the 2nd replacement fails.

When I run out of ink, if I ever get it to print that long, I will never buy another HP printer.

They should just refund the $100 I paid for the printer, the cost of the replacement ink I can't use and the cost of the ink I bought @ Staples.

I agree, had an old HP all in one that I used for 9 years, never a problem. That's why I bought HP again. If this is the condition of HP printers currently it will be my last. I am in the same boat with extra ink that I purchased the same day I bought the printer. HP, you used to be better then this.

Color ink leaking to zero, without printing one page with color. Just got off the phone with HP in some unknown country. Manager very hard to understand. No you are not unlucky, HP is now producing poor printers. Please note I have been using their printers for twenty years. Last, All in One printer, was still working great, 10 years old, just wanted wireless printing ability of new printer. Should have complained before the warranty ran out but thought I was doing something wrong. HP support offered me refurbished, lesser model printer for $80 then $60 plus another $20 for extended warranty.  Finally after 35 minutes of troubleshooting, I looked inside printer behind display panel to see a big puddle of ink on floor of printer. They could have told me to look there right away. They knew what was going on. The real problem is : HP decided to remove the print heads from  their cartridges and put them in the printer were they where not replaceable. Then charge twice as much for the cartridges. I'm done with HP. Hope someone gets to see this as I believe HP with remove this post.
