Microsoft Windows 11

We're using a new OfficeJet Pro 9730e hooked up to our network.  The printer frequently freezes, and  the power button and screen are unresponsive.  The printer must be unplugged and plugged back in to get it to work.  If it doesn't do this, there are times when it becomes so sluggish as to be unusable.  We're noticing it mostly when doing scan jobs with the scan going to a computer, but it's happened randomly as well.  Here's a small sample of the errors listed in the event log:

02-18-25  03:09:36 PM  Warning F0.31.01.03

02-18-25  03:00:37 PM  Warning F0.01.2D.02

02-18-25  01:33:54 PM  Error F0.31.0A.10

02-18-25  01:29:17 PM  Error F0.31.01.22

The F0.31.01.22 and F0.31.0A.10 event codes are the most common.

Most errors and warnings have 109 engine cycles, and the warnings often have repetitions from 5 to 156.

Firmware:  6.23.2.15-202412050515  should be up to date.

Any guidance would be much appreciated.

The error message F0.01.01.02 on your HP OfficeJet Pro 9730e suggests a firmware issue or hardware malfunction. Here are a few steps to troubleshoot and resolve this.

Power Cycle the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for at least 30 seconds before plugging it back in and turning it on. This may help reset any temporary software or hardware errors.

Update the Printer Firmware

  • Visit the HP Support website and search for the HP OfficeJet Pro 9730e printer.
  • Download and install the latest firmware update if one is available. This may address any known bugs or compatibility issues.

Perform a Hard Reset

  • Press and hold the Power button for 10-15 seconds to perform a hard reset.
  • This can sometimes clear errors that are related to the printer’s internal memory.

Check for Hardware Issues

  • Ensure there are no paper jams, or foreign objects inside the printer.
  • Check that the ink cartridges are installed properly and the printer is not reporting any issues with them.

Reinstall the Printer Software

  • Uninstall and reinstall the printer drivers on your computer. Sometimes a fresh installation can resolve firmware communication issues.

I hope this helps.

Hi Hawks_Eye,

We're still having to do an unplug / plug in to recover from crashes from time to time. The firmware is up to date. The most recent version of the software has been installed. At this point, we're just living with it, so I'd call it not so much resolved as resigned to our lot.

Hi,

I am getting the same error and recorded in the Event log for code F0.31.0A.10 and F0.31.01.22. What has been done so far.

1. Change from Universal driver to printer driver.

2. Firmware is up to date.

3. powered off the machine and remove the power cable

Still the same error.

It sounds like you've already taken some solid steps to troubleshoot the issue.

The event codes F0.31.01.22 and F0.31.0A.10 are often related to firmware or internal communication errors in HP printers.

Here are a few additional suggestions to try:

Factory Reset: Perform a factory reset on the printer. This can often resolve persistent errors. You can usually find this option in the printer's settings menu under "Tools" or "Maintenance." Be aware that this will reset all settings to their defaults.

Check Network Configuration: If the printer is connected to a network, ensure that the network settings are correctly configured. Sometimes, network-related issues can trigger these error codes.

Inspect Hardware Connections: Check all cables and connections to ensure they are secure. If possible, try using a different USB cable or network cable to rule out connectivity issues.

Let me know if any of these steps help resolve the issue!

Hi,

I have the same issue as everyone else. Error F0.31.0A.10 and F0.31.01.22.

I factory reseted multiple times, restart the printer multiple times, check again and again the network configuration, firmware is up to date and every cables is connected where they suppose to be. Printing is fine but scanner does not work at all.
