Called HP, an hour on the phone, very beaurocratic.

Bottom line, they never saw this issue, suggested a quick reset (pulling out plug while unit is on), or a sem-hard reset as suggested in the other thread about losing scan to email connectivity.

I tried quick reset, will wait to see if unit turns on. If it does will try other reset. If that doesn't work, may need to return machine or just live with annoying "feature" of having a ghost turn the machine on from time to time.

Why aren't the people we call for "Support" the "Right People" as you put it in the quoted text, in the first place? Why must everyone use people with a list as first responders in support? What we need are actual techs in the first place. Evey time I visit this forum I see people in support acting as if they've never heard of a symptom that clearly many people are experiencing and doing the follow the list thing.. is it plugged into a power strip? (Mine never has been but still resets itself) plug it into the wall and let us know your result blah blah... Come on people!

Put some Techs on this forum.

That IS their support. Non support. There are many of us with this problem but acting as if they've not heard of it keeps it from being elevated. HP Product support has gone to the dogs since it left our shores same as everyone else's!

Hi JoeTwoPointOh, great nickname!

"pcwizard" posted the fix in this thread. Essentially you need to disable UPnP in printers EWS.

I had the same problem on my daughters tablet (Christmas 2013). I would power off and it would keep coming back on.  I followed some of the posts and researched the HP and came up with the hard restart.

If I hold off for a second then say ok to power off it turns off then comes back on.

Solution:

Turn off  by holding the off/on button down until it shuts off on it's own.  Then it will not restart on it's own.

Problem solved by and Average Jane!

I have had the same problem...... turns on and wakes me up in the middle of the night. I have had it plugged into the wall.
