I tried that my friend - it did not work.

Apparently the printheads are NOT replaceable.

Such a shame having to throw away a $250- printer in less than 3 years.

Thank you for your reply Jabzi

It seems almost impossible to get information from HP about self-replacement of the printhead for an Officejet 7610 printer.  The complete printhead assembly is easily found online (Alibaba) from many suppliers and they are quite inexpensive.  It's not difficult to completely remove the old printhead and install the new assembly, but there is ONE POSSIBLE issue and it relates to the fact that this printer (and printhead) require the use of HP SETUP CARTRIDGES to calibrate the printhead.

I have been told by one person knowledgeable about HP printer repairs that buying a NEW PRINTHEAD without also getting MATCHING SETUP CARTRIDGES UNIQUE TO THAT PRINTHEAD will prevent the new printhead from functioning.

IS THIS REALLY TRUE? I have the setup cartridges that came with my OFFICEJET 7610.  Will these setup cartridges work to install and calibrate a NEW PRINTHEAD that I purchase and that is guaranteed to be HP compatible?

It appears that HP is offering only the expensive and inconvenient option of sending in the printer for HP to replace the printhead if the printhead needs replacement.  In my case, I can handle that mechanical issue.  My magenta channel is hopelessly clogged.  It never quite worked right from the get go and I didn't want to send it in for repairs while it was under warranty.  I should have.  Now I just want some help to know if my setup cartridges will allow me to install a new printhead

I ended up doing exactly what HP wants me to do... I bought a new printer 😞

Well I hope you were sufficiently savvy not to buy an HP to replace your failed one. Any company that makes a product that performs this poorly and hides information that permits alternative repair options; even making a printer that doesn't have an EASILY replaced printhead, doesn't deserve our business. If I'd have known this part wasn't user-replaceable before I bought, I'd have chosen an alternative. Printheads do wear out even under proper use.
