I installed a new yellow cartridge when the other ran out. I received an error message saying that there was a ink system error and to restart the printer. I did that and it reset ok but now neither yellow nor magenta will print. I have since replaced the new yellow cartridge with another new one in case the first one was creating an issue. I have ran print tests, cleaned the print heads, tried alignments and everything prints perfectl;y but without yellow or magenta. A printer status report, for example, prints all text and other information perfectly but in the Ink Delivery System Information section, I have color bar indicators for estimated ink levels for black and cyan but yellow and magenta have no color. The yellow is full (new cartridge) and magenta is right at half full. It says that the cartridges are all in date (all three color cartridges expire 2018). Any help would be appreciated please!

Hello,
Kindly check the ink level by touching the ink drop icon on the printer display.
If the Yellow or Magenta does not show up ink level, it could be an issue with either Yellow / Magenta cartridge ( as you stated that these are the new ink cartridges ) or the printhead itself.
I'd suggest you to perform CLEAN Printhead for atleast 2 times. To do so, touch on SETUP > TOOLS > Clean Printhead.
If issue still persits, contact HP Tech Support ( USA > 1-800-474-6836 ) for further assistance.

After several "Clean Printhead" attempts it fixed the problem. Thanks for the solution! I was not thrilled with the prospect of searching for and buying a new printer. I actually have 2 of these. I bought the second one when I stumbled on a great deal and I loved the first one so much I decided to get a second one. Now I see they are discontinued...big mistake in my opinion. I know there is a newer version but it does not print the 13x19 size any more. How about a new version with the wide format?
