macOS 10.15 Catalina

I have a 2 year old HP Envy 7800 printer.  It has worked to print and scan from my MacBook Pro for all 2 years.  Suddenly, it has stopped interoperating, so my HP Smart App won't work.  I've powered printer off and on, I've removed and reentered printer on my Mac, it says it's connected to correct Wifi, etc.   What the heck?  What else should I check?

BTW it doesn't print from my wife's MacBook either.

@LonnieMartin, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I see that you are not able to print or scan from your MAC. To assist you better, do you get any errors? Let us perform these steps:

Try making a standalone copy and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.

Perform a ping test to check the connectivity between the printer and the MAC

  1. Obtain the IP address of the printer by clicking on the Wireless icon on the printer
  2. On the MAC Go to Spotlight > search for Network utility > select Ping tab > enter the IP address of the printer in the box
  3. Check the second box that says Send only > 10 pings
  4. Click on ping > Check the results at the end if any packets are lost
  5. Note: There should be 0% packet loss, share the results in your next post.

Update the printer firmware

Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your MAC.

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

Also, check for any software updates on MAC

Click the Apple icon > About This Mac > Software Update and install any available update.

Try printing. If the issue persists, reinstall the HP Smart app from the App Store.

As this printer is AirPrint compatible, you may use the AirPrint driver to print(recommended)

Refer to step 2 of this document.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
