The HP Photosmart C310 inkjet printer suddenly no longer turns on properly.
Upon reconnecting the power cord, the printer screen shows an HP logo but nothing happens. There is no shifting of cartridges. The power button does nothing. It remains this way indefinitely.
We tried several times: disconnecting power, waiting, then reconnecting. No Change.
While power connected we tried holding printer power button in for an extended time. This resulted in the printer screen saying "initializing". But the screen subsequently went a blank grey and remained that way with no movement of the print head or any other changes. Tried this twice.
Any suggestions?

Most of the printer initialization issues can be resolved by removing the ink cartridges and power cycling the printer. Let's try these steps:
1) Make sure this printer is plugged into a direct wall, not a surge protector
2) Remove all of your ink cartridges from the printer and close the door
3) Remove the power cord from the back of the printer (Do no press the power button)
4) Plug the power cord back into the printer
5) Wait for the printer to turn on completely, then install the ink cartridges.
Let me know how it goes!

Thanks for the suggestion. The print head is not accessible - it's off to the side and power cycling doesn't make it move. Should I try to force it into a position where I can remove the cartridges?
