Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Problem Description: I am using an HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP 3302sdw printer. I am constantly encountering an error whenever I insert cartridges—specifically, original HP cartridges. Initially, I suspected the issue might be due to the cartridges running low. To troubleshoot this, I purchased a brand new, genuine HP cartridge, unboxed it, and installed it in the printer. However, the printer immediately started displaying the error code F0.01.09.01 again.

To try and resolve this, I updated the printer to the latest firmware version, 6.17.5.40-202503181735. Despite this, the error persists every time I insert a cartridge.

The issue occurs even with a brand new, genuine HP cartridge. Specifically, the only cartridge currently installed is a new Magenta 219A. There are NO other cartridges currently in the printer.

Hello everyone with this problem, after one month of attemps my problem is resolved. The way that is was resolved.
1. Turn off printer, and unplug it from 220V ( WAIT 1 MIN).

2.  Turn on with no cartridges in printer, and do Factory Reset.

3. Then insert your cartridges and that's all. Problem is gone!

Hi @BuitlDamage,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I can sense how disheartening it must be to invest in a brand-new, genuine HP 219A Magenta cartridge, only to be met with the persistent F0.01.09.01 error on your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP 3302sdw. You've already taken all the right steps, updating the firmware, using original supplies and yet the printer seems stuck in a frustrating loop.

Let’s walk through the recommended steps to address this issue.

Recommended Fixes

Here’s what HP and community experts suggest:

1. Power Cycle the Printer

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Unplug it from the wall.
  • Wait 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and power it on.

This simple step can sometimes clear firmware-related memory glitches.

2. Insert All Four Cartridges

Even if you're only replacing one cartridge (like Magenta), the printer requires all four (Black, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow) to be installed to complete initialization. Try inserting the old cartridges temporarily if you have them.

3. Perform a Factory Reset

If the error persists, a factory reset may help. Here's how:

⚠️ Important: This will erase custom settings like Wi-Fi credentials and preferences.

  • Access the Embedded Web Server (EWS)
    • Connect the printer to your network.
    • Find its IP address on the control panel.
    • Enter the IP in your browser.
  • Navigate to Settings > General > Restore Factory Defaults.

If the screen is locked with an error and you can’t access the menu, try this:

  • Power off the printer.
  • Hold Cancel + Right Arrow while powering it back on.
  • Release when the HP logo appears.

4. Try the Old Cartridge Again

Some users found that reinserting the previous cartridge, even if empty, temporarily clears the error and allows the new one to be recognized afterwards.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

Good evening, thank you for your reply. None of the methods you suggested helped resolve this error. At the moment, I am wondering if it is possible to downgrade the firmware to an older version to see if the printer will work with it. The problem persists: even if I install a new cartridge, or any other original HP 219X cartridge, the printer still throws the F0.01.09.01 error. After a Factory Reset, the issue remains. What could be the problem?
