HP Deskjet 2540
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

After working fine for several years, the printer suddenly stopped scanning. Printing is still going fine.

I deleted and reinstalled the software already several times, but no solution: still no scan possible.

Can someone help me out on this?

Hello,

Kindly check if the scanning module is working. To do so try the below steps..

  • Open the scan lid, and then press COPY Black/Color button, check if the scan module is lit and moves from one end of the printer to another. If it does not move/lit, then its a scan hardware failure. Hence printer need to be serviced.

If scanning module is working fine, then  download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor from www.hp.com/go/tools

There are instances when if there is a pending Windows 10 update available , the printing would work but not scanning. Kindly check if there are any Windows update for your PC and install them if available.

Jabzi
