Hi,

I am not clear with your exact printer model, is it the Deskjet 3050A (J611) or 3050 (J610) model?

For the Deskjet 3050 (J610) a full software not available at this time.

As there is no full software available for Mountain Lion you will need to set a temporary ad-hoc connection and then use the printer EWS to connect the printer to your router.

  • Press the wireless button on the control panel to show the wireless menu options on the printer display.
  • Select Wireless Settings on the printer display and then select Restore Netowrk Defaults.
  • Under the same Wireless and select Wireless Radio and make sure to set it as On.
  • From your Mac click the WiFi icon and then click Join Other Network.
  • Click Show Networks, select the printer SSID, it will include 3050 or J610 within its name, then click Join.
  • Allow 2-3 minutes to establish the connection.
  • Open Safari and click the Bookmarks icon (1.jpg).
  • Click Bonjour and then click the printer name, the EWS page will appear.
  • Enter the Networking tab.
  • Under Wireless (802.11) click Wireless Setup Wizard and then click Start Wizard and follow the steps listed on the screen to configure the wireless connection.
Note: If you required to provide the Security type for your wireless network, you may click the WiFi icon, click Network Preferences and select the Wi-Fi  network. Click Advanced and you will find the security type of your network within the Wi-Fi tab.
  • Once the Wireless Setup Wizard via the EWS completes, click the Wi-Fi icon of your Mac and connect to your router again.

Finally, go to System Preferences > Print & Scan and add the printer. confirm any prompt to get the drivers from Apple's servers

For the Deskjet 3050A (J611), make sure to connect the printer with a USB and then follow the installation below:

I have the same problem. I have an HP Deskjet 3050 All-in-One J610a printer. Worked fine with my PC. But I cannot seem to set it up with my new Mac. Says it is not compatible with my version of Mac OSX. I would like to connect the printer using the USB as I could not connect it following the steps for a wireless connection in your earlier reply.

I would recommend that you download the driver through Apple Software Update.

Before we do that, we want to uninstall any incompatible software you may have installed on your computer by running the HP Uninstaller located under Applications > HP or the Hewlett-Packard folder.

After you do that, we will want to download the drivers. The drivers for your product are available through Apple Software Update.

Before you do anything, temporarily unplug the printer's USB cord from either the printer or the computer. Next, check for any available HP Update's by clicking the Apple icon and then Software Update.

If any update could not be retrieved, download the full HP Printer Drivers v.2.14 from Apple:

Once you have completed the installation you will want to plug your printer back in. After the printer is plugged back in, go into your print settings under System Preferences > Print & Scan. To add the printer, click the plus sign. You should see your printer listed here. Select it. If underneath the printer you see "Use:”.  Make sure that says the name of your printer and not AirPrint. Click Add down in the bottom right hand corner.

Best of luck,

Kyle
