HP ENVY 4502 e-All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

HP ENVY 4502 e-All-in-One Printer starts and powers off immediately after update.  Was working fine all day until the update popped up and was applied.  Now after powering on the boot process starts then the scanner slams/moves hard and it powers off immediately.  To start it again you have to unplug it from the wall and wait a few seconds but this just does the same thing.  Please help!

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd love to help.

We'll have to perform a reset on the Printer for this. I have sent you a private message, for more details that cannot be shared in a public post.

Please do check your inbox on the communities page for the private message.

Let me know if this helps.

If the information I've provided was helpful, give us some reinforcement by clicking the Accepted Solution button, that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Hi Betty0610,

Is this possible with the printer powered off?  If so please explain.  As stated above the printer immediately powers off during startup. The led screen is off.  I have to unplug it from the wall  and plug it back in for it to cycle again but it immediately powers off during the boot cycle as described in the OP.  Anyway to do a factory reset?

Ah, unfortunately then you won't be able to. Do try a different wall outlet as well.

Tried a different outlet and still the same issue,   this patch totally broke my printer.  Is there anyway to back out that last update?  please help!

HP Recommended

The only way is the reset to which I did give you the steps.

If the issue still persists, I recommend you to contact the HP Support Team regarding this as this could be a hardware issue.

So, what it come down to is HP is sending out updates to break their own hardware? This is unacceptable. Are they now going to send out replacement hardware?  Standing by.

You can talk to the support team regarding a replacement.

Thanks 🙂
