For the past few months, my 5055 printer has not been able to print anything with black lines. I uninstalled/reinstalled it, downloaded all the proper drivers, ran the HP Print and Scan Doctor, and nothing works. What's weird is that both the HP Print and Scan Doctor and the printer itself both show sufficient ink levels in both cartridges (over half full). I'm using HP genuine cartridges, which the printer recognizes. However, when I print anything, not black ink is shown and the color ink is faint. I cleaned and realigned the cartridges, but that hasn't worked either. What can I do to fix this?

I see that you are experiencing print quality issues on the printer, this could be an issue with the ink cartridges or the printer ink system and I appreciate your efforts in trying to resolve the issue.

 

If you have already performed the steps from the document  Black or Color Ink Not Printing, Other Print Quality Issues and the issue persists, it could be a hardware failure.

 

Please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer or ink replacement.

@TEJ1602 , unfortunately my warranty ended 2 months ago so I was unable to reach out to HP directly. I tried your solution, which unfortunately did not work. The last thing I tried was to change the black ink cartridge. That worked, but that was annoying to do since the software was showing that the black ink cartridge that I replaced was almost half full, and ink is expensive.

The problem came again. It has barely been 2 weeks after I replaced the black ink cartridge with a genuine HP ink cartridge (which the previous one was), and with minimal printing it's been making the issue with extremely poor print quality, smeared pages and skipping multiple lines.
