HP ENVY 5640 e-All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

When I should use my ENVY 5640 printer, two days after I last used it, the display showed a blue screen with a code and it didn’t respond to the buttons nor was the printer connected to my wifi. I disconnected the power for a couple of minutes and turned the power back on but the blue screen came back very quickly displaying a new code.

I tried this procedure several times and some times I could see the HP logo and the buttons could lit up shortly but the blue screen came back  quickly and the printer didn’t respond to the buttons. The codes that were displayed seemed random, for example B89F7550, B388FA92, B81BDC28, 005A1654, B89F9AD8, B84805E0 etc.

Sometimes a screen with white vertical stripes on a black background appears, and the screen could also turn black and the printer not responding to any button including the on/off button. Disconnecting the power for a couple of minutes and turning it on again results, very shortly in a blue screen with a code.

Can someone please help me solve this problem?

Hi @terik_100,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd like to help!

I understand that you are getting errors on the printer, follow these steps to fix the issue.

Perform a power reset

  1. Turn on the printer, if it is not already on.
  2. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
  3. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  4. Wait at least 30 seconds.
  5. Plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet and printer without any surge protector.
  6. Turn on the printer.

Update the printer firmware
