Envy 4500

I just changed my internet provider and now my printer won't print.  I provided the proper info and ran a diagnostic.  The print out says congratulations on a successful setup....I am connected to the wireless....but at the end of the sheet it says I am not connected to the internet.  I had no trouble setting up my televisions and their attached devises (fire tv, etc.). Also no problem with my phone or computer.    What the heck is up with my printer!!         So Frustrated!!

Thank you.

Restarted everything....but didn't work.  It turns out that in the description of my router it states that a system requirement is a 2.4 GHz wireless adapter for each computer, etc.  But I didn't need one for my Chromebook computer.  Pretty sure I found what I may need to purchase on Amazon, but a little confused and wanting to double check that this is really what I need to do.

I appreciate your advice.

Yes, HP printers do work with the 2.4GHZ wireless adapter, I recommend you to purchase the same.

Thanks so much, once again, but I checked and my Envy 4500 doesn't appear to have a usb port.  I have decided to upgrade my router to one that broadcasts (?) in 2.4 GHz.  Getting same day delivery through Amazon.  Would not have known what to do without your help.

Probably would have felt I needed to purchase  a whole new printer!!

I'm sure this will work!!

THANKS!!!!

Thank you for the update.

Envy 4500 printer does support the USB and wireless connectivity but does not support the Ethernet connection.

I'm sorry....I really think I have to give up and purchase a new printer, which I really can't afford at this time.

My printer, because of the new router, now says it is connected to the internet.  Very happy, I tried to print my tax form, and nothing happened.  I went to Google Cloud Print which states that my printer is connected and ready to print.

Pulled up Print Jobs and everyone has a red ERROR sign next to it.  Clicked on the last entry and the details say "job error in external service"!!!???

I appreciate your great patience, but it all seems unfixable!!  Something is obviously off with this printer.

I'm not sure.  I have a Chromebook computer which I never had trouble printing with until I changed my internet provider.  Would it be Google Chrome?  I looked under tools but didn't see anything about the operating system.  It is set up under cloud printing.

Thank YOU for the prompt reply!!

Hi@gmajacquie

Thank you for the update.

Superb job on trying the different steps to isolate the issue.

Try assigning a static IP address and a manual DNS address to fix this issue. Try the steps below:

* Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to obtain the IP address.

* Type the IP address on your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.

* Go to the “Network” tab – Click on “Wireless (802.11) – Then click on “Network address (IPv4)

* Click on the radio button which says “Manual IP” and then click “Suggest a manual IP address” to give a manual IP address to your printer.

* Click on radio button which says “Manual DNS Server” and under manual preferred type 8.8.8.8 and under manual alternate type 8.8.4.4 (This is Google DNS server address)

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance, cheers 🙂
