Let me take a moment to thank you for posting on the HP Support Forums.
I understand that you have an HP ENVY 4520 All-in-One Printer. I read that the printer is on and all setup but cannot print. There is a message to sign on to a website. I'll be glad to assist you with this case.
To assist you better, I would like to know the following information:
- Is the printer connected wirelessly or via USB?
- Have you tried to print using a different application and checked?
- Does it tell you, which website you need to connect to?
- Is the printer able to make a photocopy? If yes then it indicates that the printer and ink cartridges are all fine.
Meanwhile, I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:
- Disconnect the power cable from the printer while the printer is still ON.
- Disconnect any other cables if connected the printer.
- Press and hold the printer’s power button for 15 seconds.
- The printer should be directly connected to the wall outlet and not to a surge protector.
- Reconnect the power cable to print and the printer should power ON by itself. If the printer doesn’t power ON then please manually power it ON.
Please download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor software. This is a free tool for Windows to help resolve issues with the printer drivers.
If the issue persists then ensure that the correct printer is selected for printing purpose. The following steps will help:
- Search and open devices and printers.
- Once the devices and printers window is open, please check if your printer is selected as a default printer. A default printer will have a green checkmark on it.
- Ensure that the HP ENVY 4520 All-in-One Printer has a green check mark. Another other printer names with a prefix of fax, email, etc. need not be the default printer.
- To set your printer as a default printer, right click on it and select "set as default printer".
I sincerely hope this fixes the issue. Let me know the outcome. All the best! 🙂
