I have recently uninstalled and reinstalled the printer software (and restarted PC), but getting nowhere yet.
My mother pointed out it had not been printing in colour for some time, and I can see no reason why not. I have been through just about every menu possible from Devices and Printers, and the cartridges are genuine.
I have tried Windows Update, just about everything I can think of. Annoyingly though, despite specifically stating I wanted Full version, in Apps I can only see Basic Device Software (40.11.1122.1796),
Any ideas please?

So, finally.......
Managed to make contact with an online HP support agent today. This involved them creating a remote session on the computer, and by the looks of it installing HP Envy 5640 driver alongside the exisiting one and using that instead.
I don't get it (why I should have to use another printer models drivers), but it seems to have done the trick.
I'll just have to see how this goes now for the forseeable future. No more issues I hope.
The agent seemed very friendly, knowledgable and polite though.

Is the copy working fine?
If you are facing the same issue while making a copy follow the below HP document.
Click here: https://support.hp.com/in-en/product/hp-envy-4520-all-in-one-printer-series/5447920/model/11534751/d...
If the copy is working fine this could be a printer driver issue.
I recommend you delete the driver at the root level and Install the drivers, follow the steps below:
Remove the USB if connected
1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
2.) Select your HP Printer
3.) Select Uninstall
4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose `Delete' or `Remove Device'
6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.
7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between "printui.exe" and "/s")
8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab
9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
10.) Select Ok
11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
12.) Close Devices and Printers
Then, Click on this link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-envy-4520-all-in-one-printer-series/54...
Try to print.
Keep me posted, how it goes!

Hello, thanks for replying 🙂
Colour copying works fine, so now the next step is to work my way through your instructions.
I think I've done that already, but I'll try and again and let you know how I get on.

Just as further information, before when I was trying to select Printer Preferences and Print Quality (from the Devices/Printers & Scanners/Manage) section of WIndows, there was no color options at all.
I have checked the link you provided for the driver, and yes, that was the one I was using anyway.

Right, so re-installed Web Software, although Basic Driver is showing in Apps.
What about other things now like HP Support Assistant, or HP Smart, Eprint or a R1827B firmware update I have (I have tried the firmware update before, but it would not recognise it), please?

Try using HP Smart App.
The HP Smart app includes tools to print, scan, check ink levels, and set up your printer on a wireless network.

If the issue persists, Install printer Using the Windows Built-in Print Driver
Click on this link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c01796879 for Installing and Using the Windows Built-in Print Driver.
Try to print.
Keep me posted, how it goes!

Hello, thanks for replying 🙂
Yes, we have tried the HP Smart app.
I think at this stage (having tried steps 1 & 2), I will go back to your first post, and follow the steps from there again. I will let you know how I get on.
Thanks for bearing with me.
