Right, so completed steps 1-12 again.

Presumably restart PC and select Full Web Pack again.

Update:

Installed WebPackFull again and no joy.  The only way we can access colour, is by selecting the Microsoft IPP Driver.  It's currently showing in Devices and Printers as Microsoft IPP Class Driver.  This is aggravating, but the only way at the moment.

On another note, we used HP EasyStart (9.0.3770.10) in the past.  There is also a CD-rom that came with it.

I've established we don't seem to need a firmware update, as it's had that already (according to Firmware Version, Printer Status Report).

We're not bothering yet with EPrint, as I'm not sure whether we'll need it.

I am going to have to try the other suggestion you made.  I'll have to see how that goes and let you know how I get on (Windows Built-In Printer Driver) if HP Smart doesn't work.

We had HP Smart before, so that's being re-installed automatically (by Microsoft Store).

What do you think to HP Support Assistant?  We found it very good before, and it didn't seem to cause issues.

Also, what do you think to using Ccleaner to clean temp files and registry entries (sometimes the only way)?

@mjbj

Adding an alternate driver is a good idea, you may use the following steps to add an alternate printer driver:

1.) In Windows, search for and open Control panel, click Devices and Printers

2.) In the Devices and Printers folder right click on your HP Envy 4520 and left click on Printer Properties.

3.) Left click on the Advanced tab

4.) Left click on New Driver

5.) When the New Driver window opens just hit 'next' until you see a list of Manufacturers on the left and a list of Printers on the right.

6.) Select HP as the Manufacturer on the left

7.) Select HP Envy 4500 as the printer on the right. If HP Envy 4500 doesn't appear then select 'Windows Update' on the bottom left and once the update completes you will be able to select HP Envy 4500.

8.) After selecting HP Envy 4500 hit next to complete the New Driver Wizard

9.) Under the Printer Properties window select 'Apply' but don't hit OK

10.) Select the General tab

11.) Rename your printer back to HP Envy 4520.

12.) Hit OK.

Keep me posted, how it goes!

Have a great day!

Cheers:)

Thanks once again for replying 🙂

Followed steps 1-7, except in 'HP' drivers there is no 4500 series, only 'HP ENVY 4510 series'.

Do I use that instead please?

On another note (while I wait for your reply):

What I do know is that we had this since November, and it worked fine initially.  If it worked before, why not now?  Is this to do with HP software & W10, or 64-bit systems?

What I don't get is why I am I downloading what is said to be a Full pack and only showing as Basic anyway?  Is this why I can only use black & white with the HP Envy 4527?

I found somewhere on a memory stick one from last year called 'ENVY4520_Basicx64_1122'; don't know whether I'd have more luck with that?

At the end of the day though we do love HP printers, but we would definitely very much love to get back to printing black & white or colour printouts, or black & white or colour photos again as soon as.  The scanner is also very good.

For some reason the Bonjour program missing on the PC (no iTunes by the way).

Hello Raj 🙂

Do I go ahead and use the 4510 driver, as I cannot find the 4500 driver via Windows Update, please?

Also, what about my suggestion of the Basic64 package (mentioned earlier)?

Any ideas please about the Bonjour service?

Thanks once again.

I think we've tried the automated solutions before.

What else is there?
