Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

same problem others have. Power will not turn off,  stuck on loading screen, only one dot completed of seven.  I have done all the steps recommended. How do you do a factory reset? Do I need remove and replace any of the electronics, or this printer just a piece of junk now.

Hi @CA009

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for explaining everything so clearly—and I’m really sorry you’re dealing with this. A printer freezing on the loading screen and refusing to power off is incredibly frustrating, especially when you’ve already tried all the usual steps.

Let’s walk through a few deeper options that might help bring your HP ENVY Photo 7155 back to life.

🔄 Try a Full Power Drain Reset

This goes beyond a basic unplug:

  1. Turn off the printer (or hold the power button until it goes dark).
  2. Unplug the power cord from both the printer and the wall.
  3. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds while unplugged.
  4. Plug it directly into a wall outlet (not a surge protector).
  5. Power it back on and check if it gets past the loading screen.

🧼 Remove Ink Cartridges and Retry

Sometimes a faulty cartridge can freeze the boot process:

  1. Open the access door and remove both cartridges.
  2. Repeat the full power drain reset above.
  3. Power on the printer without cartridges.
  4. If it boots, reinsert cartridges one at a time.

🧰 Attempt a Factory Reset via Display (if accessible)

If you can reach the home screen:

  • Tap Setup (gear icon) > Printer Maintenance > Restore > Restore Factory Defaults.
  • Confirm when prompted.

If the screen is frozen and you can’t access the menu, skip to the next step.

💻 Try USB Connection with HP Smart

Some users have had success by:

  1. Connecting the printer to a PC via USB cable.
  2. Launching the HP Smart app.
  3. Unplugging and replugging the USB cable while the app is open.

This can sometimes “wake” the printer and complete the boot process.

🧠 If All Else Fails…

If the printer still won’t respond:

You’ve clearly put in the effort, and I know how discouraging it feels when nothing seems to work. Let’s keep pushing—if you’d like help preparing a service request or checking warranty status, I’ve got your back.

Hi,

I think I have the same question but the above solution is not working.

When I connect the main plug the printer will go on directly, I don't need to push the power button.

Then the bar is going from left to right on the display, the first dot is on. At the end there is a full bar and the first dot is blue.

I already did try to power off, no luck. removed the ink cartridges. removed the main power cord. push 30 seconds at the power button to release all the power after 5 minutes reconnect the power, try to use another power cord nothing is working.

push 4 times on the left bottom corner to try going in to the extra menu but nothing helps.

Are there any other options?

Kind regards
