Hi @BJON1962

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand that you are facing an issue with your HP device, I am glad to assist you today.

Please try these steps.

On Windows:

  1. Open Control Panel: Search for "Control Panel" in the Start menu and open it.
  2. Devices and Printers: Click on "Devices and Printers."
  3. Right-Click on Printer: Find your HP printer, right-click it, and select "Printing Preferences."
  4. Paper/Quality Tab: Go to the "Paper/Quality" tab.
  5. Print in Grayscale: Look for the "Print in Grayscale" option and select it. You can choose between "On" (for grayscale) and "Off" (for color).
  6. Apply and OK: Click "Apply" and then "OK" to save your settings.

On macOS:

  1. System Preferences: Open "System Preferences" from the Apple menu.
  2. Printers & Scanners: Click on "Printers & Scanners."
  3. Select Printer: Choose your HP printer from the list on the left.
  4. Print Options: Click on "Options & Supplies" and then the "Driver" tab.
  5. Grayscale Printing: If available, select the option for "Print in Grayscale."
  6. Close and Save: Close the dialog and your settings should be saved.

In Print Dialog:

You can also set grayscale printing from the print dialog when you print a document:

  1. Open the Document: Open the file you want to print.
  2. Print Command: Go to File > Print.
  3. Printer Settings: Look for "Print in Grayscale" or "Color Options" in the print settings.
  4. Print: Select it and then click "Print."

If you don’t see the grayscale option, ensure your printer driver is up to date, as some features may depend on the driver version.
