Hello,
We've had an HP LaserJet Enterprise MFP 527 sitting around the shop and decided to start using it again. I turned it on this morning and am receiving error 99.09.66. I am trying to reload the firmware from the boot screen but do not have the administrator password in order to get to the screen to load the firmware. How do I reset the password on the printer?

If the administrator password has been lost then you will need to perform either a partial clean or a disk format. If you are in the preboot menu already and are being asked for an admin password, someone has set one on the formatter, in which case your only option is to replace the formatter as low level passwords cannot be cleared. By default there is no admin password in the preboot menu. If you can access the format command in the preboot menu I would try that first, but typically 99 errors are often the result of a failed harddrive which you will have to replace if it is failed.

Lets backup one step. If you can get to the preboot menu, the steps you need are not in service tools, they are under administrator, which will only require a password if someone set one. Go to administrator>partial clean. Click ok, nothing will appear to happen but then use the back key until screen reads continue. Unit will then restart and the admin password will be reset to default which is no password.
