Hi @juaff,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I know how frustrating it is when your HP OfficeJet Pro 8620 suddenly shows the error: "Printhead missing, failed, or incompatible (0xc19a0015)". This error typically points to a printhead detection issue, which can be caused by electrical contact problems, firmware glitches, or a faulty printhead. Let’s walk through the steps to resolve this with care.

Recommended Steps to Fix Error Code 0xc19a0015

Step 1: Power Reset the Printer

This clears temporary memory issues:

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the printer and the wall outlet.
  3. Wait 60 seconds.
  4. Plug the printer directly into a wall outlet (not a surge protector).
  5. Turn the printer back on.

Step 2: Remove and Reinsert the Ink Cartridges

  1. Open the cartridge access door.
  2. Wait for the carriage to move to the center.
  3. Remove all cartridges.
  4. Check for ink leaks or debris on the cartridges and printhead.
  5. Reinsert the cartridges firmly.
  6. Close the access door.

Step 3: Clean the Printhead Contacts

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  2. Open the cartridge access door.
  3. Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water.
  4. Gently clean the copper-colored contacts on the printhead and cartridges.
  5. Let everything dry for 5 minutes.
  6. Reinsert the cartridges and close the door.

Step 4: Update Firmware (if accessible)

If the printer turns on:

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
