OMG - I have had the same issue for a year on 3 pcs/laptops and wasted hours trying to fix with or with HP Support. Printer is HP Desk jet 3830 and the PCs are all fairly new Windows 10. That one step of using TCP/IP did the trick.

I was having the same problem. The only thing that finally fixed it on my personal computer was to run the HP Print Doctor. After running print doctor, I noticed that the Printer Properties/Printer Shortcut box, where print preferences are saved, had a color option added which wasn't there before. I am having the same problem on my work computer, but can't use the same fix since I do not have admin privileges to download the program and change settings. But I do believe it provides valuable information to know that it works on my personal computer after the fix, but not on my work computer and my work computer does not have the color profile option in Printer Properties.

YES, I CAN MAKE A COPY IN COLOR BUT NOW WHEN I PRINT FROM MY LAPTOP ITS ONLY IN BLACK AND WHITE.  I USE TO PRINT IN COLOR AND HAVE NO IDEA WHY I CANT NOW PRINT IN COLOR FROM THE SAME LAPTOP

I have an HP OfficeJet 3830, and it suddenly stopped printing in color, although test prints and diagnostic prints from the printer would print color just fine.  I looked online for a solution but couldn't find one that worked until now.

A little while after your post but your TCIP solution worked for me. Previously when the HP 3830 stops printing in color for some odd reason I was forced to uninstall it and re-install the drivers to get color back. You solution was fastner.

Sorry but it didn't work for me, still printing from computer in black and white only. I rebooted, cleaned heads, installed new hp cartridges, followed your directions above and still didn't work. When I checked into preferences and properties, nothing to change. When I went into color management, it showed nothing in that box. Should something be in there for color management?
