HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer - N911a

I have had this HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 for quite a long time and it has worked perfectly for years. At the moment it is displaying a message on its screen that says Printer Failure. The rest of the message states " There is a problem with the printer or ink system. Turn Printer off, then on. If problem persists, contact HP". That is what I did and was told that my printer is not fixable and it would be best to get a new one. So I have turned to the community to learn if there is anything I can do to get it going again or if I must just let it go finally. I am using Mac OS Sonoma but another family member uses their PC with Windows 11, I believe. I don't think that's relevant since the problem is in the printer itself. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

You might try a factory reset using the secret menu.  There are several versions of the 8600 so maybe it won't work

They are still being sold for over 1000 USD and you can get parts on eBay.

The printhead is usually what goes out.  Look for repair kit for 8600.  You might call HP and ask about where to fix it and just get an estimate.
