Hello HP Forum,
I am new and have read a lot of articles about printing not working. I got this printer yesterday and I was so excited to use it! When got home... DOH! Nothing would print! So, I used the Print and Scan Doctor and that fixed it... temporarily. Now it won't print and Print and Scan Doctor says nothing! I printed something this morning, but I saw a mistake, so I went to print it again, nothing would come out. I am getting kind of furious that I (might be) wasted $170 on this thing.
I could really use some help please! 🙂 If not, I just wasted $170 on this thing. 😞
My system is Windows 10 1511 Pro 64-Bit, and the printer is USB connected.
Thanks in advance,
HPOJPro8710
Edit: I just tried the HP Print and Scan Doctor 4.9 again, now it working again. But this won't last forever, I need a permanent fix. 🙂
Edit 2: I forgot to add that I am planning to leave it on all of the time. Is it good to do that? Is that causing my problems? My Grandparents have their HP OfficeJet 8600 Pro on 24/7 for I don't know how many years! haha And they don't have any problems whatsoever! 🙂
I had a HP OfficeJet 4630 USB connected, and I turned it off everytime and printed fine. Only had to fix it once with HP Print and Scan Doctor.

Hi, sounds like your computer is powering down the USB ports to save power.
Check under Device Manager.
Check under USB Controllers.
Check all USB Root Hub.
Select Power Management and make sure:
Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power is UNCHECKED.
Use a good quality USB cable not more than 6 ft long.
Connect the 8710 directly to a wall power plug.

Hello 8lives,
Thanks for responding! 😄
I did the USB Root Hub, to unchecking the power saving option like you said. I have 7 USB Roots Hubs and unchecked them all. I guess now we'll have to see what happens. 🙂 Again, thanks so much!

One other thing to check the 8710 firmware, the current one is WBP2CN1619BR.

Ok, now it won't let me print after a few pages.
I am printing from Nero CoverDesigner and I am trying to print my CD covers.
Can I send it back? It's is getting to be not worth it after paying $150 for it. Wow stuff has gone down hill BIG TIME! My old HP OfficeJet 6500 Plus works even today every time, but this new stuff ain't worth it.
This is making me so frustrated, I wish it could be fixed! I am not running Print and Scan Doctor all of the time. My HP OfficeJet 4630 only needed it once... ONCE!
I only got this thing yesterday and I am already thinking it's junk. Anything I can do to return it and get my money back? Or am I S.O.L.? 😞
I am sorry if I am getting into a rage, but this is ridiculous! I just want a permanent fix, so I don't have to waste so much time fixing it. I am having more time fixing this than using it at all! I thought this printer was the hot ticket, but I guess not. 😞
Edit: Whenever I run Print and Scan Doctor it always says "Print queue fixed". I wish it could say "Print queue fixed for good!"

Can you not return it to the store where you bought it?
Give this Microsoft diag a try.

This is embarrasing... I uninstalled and reinstalled the software and installed it with the HP Easy Start and it is now working perfectly in tip-top shape! If I was being harsh, I deeply sorry.
I hope this topic helps people with problems like this! 😄
Thanks 8lives for helping me! 😄

I read the directions given for a similar problem, won't print. I need more details. I am not familiar with the lingo.
This is very very frustrating. When I had this same problem about a month ago (I have only had my printer for two months), I called in for tech support and the techie had me tell my computer I was using a 9800 instead and it worked until I changed ink and now it won't work. I have spent so many hours on this today. I am tired and frustrated and need my printer to be working as I have a lot of work to do and can't waste my time on trying to figure out a problem that I know nothing about.
I hope you can help me solve this problem.
Thank you.
Carol

@Carol_Gordon, what operating system are you using on your computer, Microsoft or Apple?
What is the firmware # on the 8710, you can find it on the printer status page which is available thru the printer screen?
