I did not realize this was a PC problem also. This is our workaround for an Apple OS X.
The work around to being able to use this HP 8710 with our Apple Mac OS X is to physically connect with USB cord, then turn off printer when finished printing each session at the computer. Then when we want to print again, turn on printer right after we put a new print job in the print queue. This workaround cost us 4 tech support sessions all combined of 13 hours and about $200. The issue is HP is not keeping up with the Apple OS X.

This is working for us.

@fiftysgal, did you check the 8710 firmware rel. #?

The firmware is installed in the 8710.
Can you print a status report?
From the Control panel, select Setup, select Reports, then select Printer Status Report.
The current firmware revision will appear on the printed Printer Status Report.

Ok guys, sorry for not responding, been quite busy lately.
I have figured out my problem. I was using Microsoft Edge while trying to print, used Chrome and Firefox and printing was flawless. I guess it was right under my nose the whole time.
Thanks for the help everyone!!! I really do appreciate it!!! 😄

I purchased the HP OfficeJet Pro 8715 to replace the 8600 version which I loved. I'm ready to take it back. I can't believe what trash this printer is. I have to run the print and scan doctor every single time I want to print anything. Scanning is a complete joke. What a waste of good money!
