Hi,

My printer also hangs at shutdown. It only happens when I used scanning to network folder before.

The printer is HP OfficeJet Pro 8730 with product number D9L20A.

I use firmware WEBPDLPP1N001.1903B.00.

Beside the different firmware my problem is exactly the same like Paolo8730.

The printer is new. Most likely I will return it if I can’t get a solution for this problem.

Is there a solution for this problem?

Kind regards

Arno

@Arno_E I suggest you start with performing a hard reset on the printer to resolve the issue with hanging at shutdown:

  1. Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.

  2. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.

  3. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

  4. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

  5. Wait at least 60 seconds.

  6. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

    NOTE:

HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.

  7. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

  8. Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

  9. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Let me know if the issue persists,

Hello Riddle_Decipher,

Thanks for answering my post.

The procedure in your message did not solve the issue.

Is there a possibility to downgrade printer firmware to 1726D?

According to other posts in community this version should work fine:

@Arno_E I suggest you check my private message for steps on performing a full reset, to reset the firmware that could be causing such issues, although I checked the link you sent and the end result on it was to get a replacement printer, and that's what you may need to do if this reset doesn't work, that said, these instructions are designed for your specific printer and if anyone with a different model would try the steps, it may render the printer unstable, hence a private message would be the safest way of sharing this information:

Stand by for updates!

And have a good day.

(P.S: (If anyone wants these instructions for their specific printers, please create a public post and tag me, I'll be happy to help).

So, I am also affected by this OBVIOUS FIRMWARE BUG, which HP refuses to acknowledge or even fix.

So, please HP: Help me get my printer back to a normal state. And, if you dont mind, share with us if there is a development ongoing to fix this bug in a future release.

@RequiemMG

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

If you are unfamiliar with how the Community's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.

Hi RequiemMG,

Today I managed to downgrade my HP 8370 to firmware version 1726D.

This solves all my problems.

The printer is shutting down even if I scanned to file before 🙂

Here is my solution:

  1. Download ojpro_8730-8740_1726D_06292017.rfu from ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/networking/software/pfirmware
  2. Rename ojpro_8730-8740_1726D_06292017.rfu to ojpro_8730-8740_1726D_06292017.prn
  3. Save ojpro_8730-8740_1726D_06292017.prn to an USB stick
  4. Put USB Stick into the printer and choose print document from USB

Instead of using this procedure it should also be possible to do use copy in CMD but this did not work for me:

copy /b ojpro_8730-8740_1726D_06292017.rfu \\<computer name>\<printer name>

I suggest to disable automatic firmware update to keep this version.
