Hi, I have an Officejet 3830 printer. It was working fine until just a few days ago when it stopped communicating with my computer. Usually the printer goes to sleep and the screen turns off, but when I send a print job it comes to life and prints. Now when I send the print job nothing happens. The screen stays dark. I ran the "diagnose and fix" from the support app but it says "print que issue not fixed", and then that's all the help it offers. I imagine this is an easy fix, but I have no idea what to do. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Hi @adamcrohn ,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It seems like you are facing a print queue issue, and there are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the problem. Here's a step-by-step guide:
Restart Your Printer:
- Turn off your HP Officejet 3830 printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about 30 seconds and then plug it back in.
- Turn on the printer and check if it starts responding.
Check Print Queue:
- On your computer, go to the Control Panel.
- Navigate to "Devices and Printers" or "Printers and Scanners."
- Right-click on your HP Officejet 3830 printer and select "See what's printing."
- Cancel all print jobs in the queue.
Restart Print Spooler Service:
- Press Win + R to open the Run dialog box.
- Type services.msc and press Enter to open the Services window.
- Locate "Print Spooler" in the list.
- Right-click on "Print Spooler" and select "Restart."
Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers:
- Ensure that you have the latest printer drivers installed. You can visit the official HP website to download and install the latest drivers for your Officejet 3830.
- Alternatively, you can uninstall the existing printer drivers and reinstall them.
Check for Windows Updates:
- Make sure your operating system is up-to-date with the latest Windows updates. Sometimes, updates include fixes for printer-related issues.
Check Connectivity:
- Ensure that your printer is properly connected to your computer. If you use a USB connection, try a different USB port or cable.
- If your printer is connected wirelessly, check the wireless connection and reconnect if necessary.
Firewall/Antivirus Settings:
- Check your firewall or antivirus settings to ensure that they are not blocking communication with the printer. Temporarily disable them and check if the issue persists.
HP Print and Scan Doctor:
- Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool from the official HP website. This tool can automatically diagnose and fix common printing problems.
Reinstall the Printer:
- Remove the printer from your computer and reinstall it. Go to "Devices and Printers," right-click on the printer, and select "Remove Device." Then, reinstall the printer using the Add Printer wizard.
Check Power Saving Settings:
- Ensure that power-saving settings on your printer are not causing it to go into a deep sleep mode. Adjust the power settings if necessary.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.-
