HP Officejet 4620
Microsoft Windows XP

Hello,

I am connected wirelessly to my HP Officejet 4620 printer. I use OS XP (I know very dated) I am trying to print documents from word and they are only printing in red ink. When I attempt to run "Clean Printhead" function the black ink prints fine via the printer. Can anyone help me or explain as to why documents are only printing in red ink via my computer?

Thank you for your time,

Steph

Hey @StephyB,

Welcome to the HP Support Forums!

I understand that your Officejet 4620 e-All-In-One Printer is printing in red when printing from Word on your Windows XP machine. I can help you with that.

Most likely what is happening is there is a font setting that has been changed within Word. If you are unable to find such a setting then the following can be performed:

  1. Close all programs you have open.
  2. If the printer is connected with a USB cable, remove it.
  3. Click on Start, Control Panel, and Printers.
  4. Right-click on any icon of your printer listed.
  5. Click on Remove Device.
  6. Repeat for any other icons of your printer listed.
  7. Uninstall the drivers and software associated with the printer.
  8. Download the latest drivers by clicking on this link.

Please let me know if this allows you to print in black. If it does, please click on Accept Solution. If you appreciate my help, please show it by clicking on the thumbs up icon. Both icons are below this post.

I'vae got Windows 10 and WORD just started printing in only red no matter what I did.  I tried to change the font to blue and it still printed in red.  I  assume that this solution will work for Windows 10 as well?
