Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Officejet 4630 is stuck in some endless loop trying to print an alignment page after I installed a new cartridge.

Have tried shutting off and restarting. Won't let me cancel. HP Print Dr. useless. Would appreciate a solution.

Hi @BillG47

I'd like to help you with your Officejet 4630.

Let's perform a hard reset. To do so, leave the printer on and unplug the power cable for 1 minute. While it is unplugged, hold down the power button on the printer for 10-15 seconds to release any built up power, then after the minute has passed, plug the printer back in.

Also, click the link below to ensure the printer has the latest firmware update. This firmware update can improve printer performance and fix miscellaneous defects.

HP Officejet 4630 e-All-in-One Printer series Firmware Update

Often times quality issues are the root cause of failed alignments. Please use the following document if the issue remains at this point; Fixing Print Quality Problems for the HP Officejet 4630 and HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 4640 e-All-in-O....

I hope one of the proposed solutions does the trick!

My Officejet 4630 won't print alighment page or clear the status.  I have reloaded the driver, loaded the firmware update, did a cold restart on the printer, all without solving the issue.

Printer has become worthless.

Need a real fix.

You can't believe the run around this problem has developed into.  After being on the phone with HP Tech support for over an hour, it is now elevated to another wonderful resolution level.

Apparently, the printer will not recognize the ink cartridges as genuine HP products and has locked the printer until a genuine cartridge is installed.  I have installed cartridges purchased at COSTCO that are from a blister pack which appear to be the correct genuine intems and still no correction.

About ready to give up and buy a different brand of printer.

As per usual with HP products, the printer is now out of warrenty by 90 days.  So the choices are limited. Buy, buy, buy.

I forgot to mention, this issue never occured with my previous HP desktop.  This issue only surfaced when I purchased a new HP500 desktop and the software update for the printer required an alighment.  Never had to do an alighment with the old desktop.

Hi @Pat22,

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post serial numbers and case details.

If you are unfamiliar with how the Forum's private message capability works, this post has instructions.
