When printing documents that have grid lines the alignment is mess up so the grid lines are off and can't be read or used.  I tried printing the alignment page and it gets about half way through then stops and the paper jams.  The partial page that does print starts out center then moves to the right side of the printer (closest to the controls).  How do I fix it if even the alignment page is so off the printer jams?

@Cassie18 Welcome to HP Community!

Here is how I got my printer to work and hopefully, it will help you too:

First, I checked the duplexer in the back.  I removed it and made sure I didn't see any paper anywhere (I had been through several paper jams at this point and replaced it, being sure it was snapped into place on both sides.

Next I completed the alignment process.

Here are the steps:

1)  Press the Setup button on the device control panel (the one with the image of a wrench on it)

2)  Press the right arrow button until you reach "6. Tools"

3)  Press OK

4)  Press Right Arrow Button until you reach "3. Align Printer"

5)  Press OK

The screen will say:

Aligning Cartridges...  Please wait.

This process will take approximately 7 minutes."

After the printer has completed the process, a page will print out.  The screen will then state:

Success

Alignment successful.

Recycle or discard the page printed.

Press OK to Continue.

Thank you for your help, but my printer doesn't have a duplexer and there is no screen on the printer for me to do the alignment steps.  I have followed the directions to hold the power button while pressing the paper feed button 3 times.  This gets the alignment process to start but it gets maybe halfway through the process and the printer jams.  As it is printing the alignment page the starting point of each line moves farther and farther to the right (closest to the power button) until it runs out of room I'm assuming and causes the jam.
