HP Officejet 6500A Plus
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

My HP Officejet 6500A Plus printer will not pick up and  feed paper. I can hear that the paper feed mechanism is actually running and trying to pick up paper; I get an "out of paper" error message.

I did the roller cleaningroutine as instructed by HP video; paper still doesn't feed.

While I was cleaning the "paper-pick" rollers deep inside the printer (as instructed by HP video) I noted that the axel that the rollers are mounted on wobble in an angular motion as if they were loose - that is what makes me think it is broken.

Plus none of the instructions fixed the problem

QUESTIONS:

1) Can the paper-pick mechanism be fixed?

2) Is it worth the cost of fixing it?  (I doubt it because I purchased it June 2011 and out-of-warranty)

What say ye?    (Shall I throw out the dead?)

I tried your HP trouble shooting methods several times already. They did nothing to help.

Here is the actual answer: after extensive searching for help on the WEB for my printer problem I solved the problem with the help of a YouTube posting which follows:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bMaOKiX0PEI

Clever guy. This is exactly the problem mine was having!

I am having the exact same problem!

My printer will not recognise that I have fresh, flat printer paper in the tray. It keeps saying 'load paper'! I have tried everything from restarting to checking the printer driver settings and preferences, cleaning the rollers, and nothing helps. I can hear the printer trying to pick up the paper to feed it through, but it won't work.

I'm a one-person office with no technical support and I desperately need my printer. Please help!

Same exact problem as stated above, except the plastic gear is broken. I found a piece with 3 cogs on the paper. Would this part be available, and is it possible to replace?
