HP Officejet 6600

Hi,

I have returned after a week annual leave to find a 'Printer Failure' Message on my HP Officejet 6600.

It happened first thing this morning. After printing 1 page, it displayed a depleted Cyan cartridge message, so I promptly replaced the Cyan cartridge, which is when the message appeared.

I have followed th instructions to turn off at the printer and unplug at the wall and attempt to restart, but I still have the error message. I have even replaced the Cyan cartridge again in case it was a faulty cartridge, I have also replaced the black cartridge, as I knew this was getting low.

Can anyone help please?

Thanks Alden,

The printer appears to be working now

Turns out all I needed to do was take out the non-genuine HP ink cartridges and replace them with genuine HP cartridges.

All seems to be working fine now? Why do you think that would be ?

Hi @Spud831,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you've already tried some good troubleshooting steps. Here are a few more things you can try to resolve the "Printer Failure" message on your HP Officejet 6600.

Check for Jammed Paper: Open all access doors and check for any paper jams or obstructions. Remove any stuck paper carefully.

Inspect the Print Cartridges: Make sure the print cartridges are installed correctly. Remove them and reinstall them, ensuring they click into place securely.

Clean the Cartridge Contacts: Gently clean the contacts on the cartridges and inside the printer using a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water. Dry everything thoroughly before reinserting the cartridges.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on.

Check for Firmware Updates: Sometimes a firmware update can fix hardware issues. Visit the HP support website, enter your printer model, and see if there's a firmware update available.

Run HP's Print and Scan Doctor: HP provides a tool called Print and Scan Doctor that can diagnose and fix common printer issues. You can download it from the HP website and run it to see if it can resolve the issue.

Reset to Factory Settings: As a last resort, you can try resetting the printer to factory settings. This will remove any custom settings and configurations but might resolve the issue. Check your printer's manual for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
