This will reset your Officejet Pro 8710 and will remove the admin settings and password(s) to allow you to start from scratch by restoring your printers factory default settings. You may want to print this out before starting as there are many steps to follow and it may be best you cross them off as you go
.
- Press Power button to turn the Printer On.
- Press BL, BL, BL, BL Buttons, in sequence. (BL stands for Bottom Left. Normally the button on the bottom left is the back arrow. And you need to do this while the front panel of the printer is on the Home screen)
- Touch Support Menu.
- Select Reset Menu and Touch OK.
- Select Semi-Full Reset and Touch OK.
- Wait for unit to Power Down/Turn Off.
- Press Power button to turn the Printer On.
- Choose "English" if that is your preferred language (which is what I pressed)
- Choose "USA" and "Confirm"
- Now Set the Date and press "Continue"
- Now Set the Time and press "Continue"
- Press "Continue Setup"
- Now press "IT Setup" and you will get a Warning stating "This is Intended for IT Administrators...….". Press "Continue"
- A "Help make it Better" Screen will give you the option to uncheck the blue box. I left my box checked "Allow HP to collect this data". I did this simply because I use HP Instant Ink. If you uncheck the box I am not sure if this will change any of these next steps. My suggestion is to check the box.
- Press "Continue"
- Press either "Home" or "Business" and then choose how you use your printer. I pressed "For personal use"
- The next screen will confirm your choices and then just Press "Confirm"
- Next, Press "Full Setup". The other option is if you are moving the printer and transporting it to a new location. Which you are not. At least not for my Solution.
- The next screen is the "Full Install" screen and a message about making sure its in its final location. Press "Continue"
- You will then get a message to install the cartridges that came with the printer. Just ignore this and it will automatically pickup your ink cartridges already installed and take you to the "Initialize the Printer" screen letting you know that this process could take up to 7 minutes. When you are ready, Press "Continue".
- The next screen is the "Select the Connection Method". I selected "Connect Later".
- While your waiting the printer will be aligning by a self test and when complete will print out this alignment page 1 and on the flip side it will give you the instructions on using www.123.hp.com "To print and scan, install the HP software on your computer or the HP Smart app on your mobile device. Visit www.123.hp.com for more information." or simply scan the QR Code.
- The next screen is the "Alignment Successful" screen. Press "Ok".
- If you encounter the "Select the Connection Method" again. Just select "Connect Later" and then this will bring you to the "Advanced Printer Configuration" screen unless you were already there.
- Highlight everything so that all the options are green noting the "On" setting. You will need to scroll down as there are several settings. Do this regardless if you plan to use these options or not. Later you can go back in and change these settings. For this tutorial, I selected the green colored "On" options for everything.
- You will notice that no wireless settings have been configured by the blinking "blue wireless" icon on the screen.
- Press "Continue" which is now in a Black color tab.
- You will now get a message saying; "Thank you for choosing HP". This will automatically take you to the Home screen.
- Now press the "settings" icon located at the top left. Its the rigid circle icon.
- This will take you to the "Setup" screen. The next few steps I did just to be sure my printer was reset back to its original factory settings. It may be redundant but I wanted to make sure that the administrator or "admin" was completely removed and so was the password in the event that it would automatically reconfigure itself once I setup my wireless settings and pickup the old "admin" and "password" (which is what you are trying to remove) so that none of your settings are locked on the HP Officejet Pro 8710 screen.
- Under the "Setup" screen, scroll with your finger until you see; "Printer Maintenance". Press "Printer Maintenance".
- Then scroll with your finger until you see; "Restore". Press "Restore".
- Then Press "Restore Factory Defaults".
- You will then get an informational message on the screen letting you know that any configured setting will be removed and that the factory settings will be restored. NOTE: It will also let you know that the administrator password for the EWS will also be reset. Your address book will be removed for your fax settings and that your WEB services account information will be removed and will need to be setup again. Unitl WEB services is setup your Instant Ink Service will not work either.
- Go ahead and Press "Continue"
- Message will state; "Restoring Factory Defaults/Settings and Printer will Automatically restart when finished".
- Next, be sure to uninstall all HP Printer Software from your PC, Tablet, Apple OIS or Mobile App and be sure to go to the Control Panel and the Device Settings and make sure the HP Officejet 8710 or any version of it has been removed. If not, remove the drivers first under properties and then remove the devices. You WEB Server settings could reinstall if you don't check for this.
- Your all set and now you have full access to all your printer settings and your next step is to go to the www.123.hp.com website to reinstall your printers software and HP Smart App under Microsoft Store, Google Apps or Apple Apps.
I realize this was a rather long step process but it will do the trick and release the lock you had previously on your Officejet Pro 8710 Printer settings which you were not able to access and otherwise reset the printer back to its factory default settings.
